Work to widen the footway/cycleway along Great Western Way (B4006) close to B&Q is nearing completion and will be complete within the next couple of weeks. Once finished, the central triangular island at the Galton Way junction will be reinstated. This will make the route safer for both pedestrians and cyclists. The work will require a lane closure for a few days whilst the kerb line closest to the carriageway of the triangular island is set out. This lane closure will take place during off-peak traffic hours to keep disruption to a minimum. Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to be diverted to the footway on the south side of Great Western Way and are advised to use the temporary traffic light crossing at Barnfield Roundabout and the permanent crossing at Bruce Street Bridges to cross Great Western Way, as this is the safest way to get around the closed section of pavement.
