Haydonleigh Primary School beat off competition from hundreds of schools in the South West to scoop the “School of the region” award in Modeshift’s Star’s Travel Plan awards. Having come top out of all Swindon schools, they then won the regional prize meaning that they will now go forward to the National finals in the spring.
The school have achieved gold accreditation for the second year in a row due to the hard work of staff, a gang of travel ambassadors and enthusiastic pupils. They have continued to reduce car use to the school, and increase walking, cycling and scooting to school through a range of initiatives.
Debbie Yockney and four travel ambassadors received their award at a ceremony at the SS Great Britain in Bristol on Tuesday.
