The route will take us around the perimeter gravel paths of Lydiard Park . The paths are mostly wide and fairly flat. We will pass the walled garden , the Ice House , the Jungle Parc and the lovely lake where there are splendid views of Lydiard House. . We will cycle over a small brook via a wooden bridge to enter the wooded section of the park before returning along side the lake on a wide grass path and on to our start point and the cafe .
A beginners traffic free route , ideal for first time riders
This ride will stay within the confines of Lydiard Park , it is on gravel cycle paths with no proper roads to ride on , so safe for those who might be nervous of riding in traffic
We will finish our ride with a refreshment stop at one of the two cafes in the Park grounds . There are toilets within the grounds at our start point .
Helmets are recommended for your safety . please have a road worthy bike with working brakes and pumped up tyres . Suitable clothing for the weather conditions . Money for the car park at Lydiard Park and for refreshments after the ride
This ride is especially suitable for new , nervous or returning riders . It will be at a very steady pace and there will be plenty of rest stops if needed .
