It’s St George’s Day, you know the Patron Saint of England, creditted with the slaughter of at least one dragon. This is your turn to test yourself and see if you what it takes to slaughter one our local dragons. On the way you’ll have chance to fuel up and discuss tactics over coffee and cake in Stanford in the Vale, then it’s off to do battle with the Dragon that protects the White Horse at Uffington; You may need refreshments after so you have a choice in Woolstone or Ashbury. A special privilege will be awarded to anyone sporting a St George’s flag on the day, you will be allowed to be first in the queue for coffee!!!!!!!!
None of the route is traffic free, but its rural roads all the way with the odd tractor, horse and SUV
Main stop for Battle Preparation will be our “local” in Stanford in the Vale; optional stops on the return
For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted on then a spanner that fits the nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or card for the coffee stop.
This is probably not a ride for those new to cycling no matter how much you hate dragons. However if you are an experienced cyclist and know what having a small chain ring and big sprocket means then you are welcome to join us on this ride. You will find us a friendly bunch and there’s our “no one get left behind” guarantee.
