Stagecoach are making some changes to the 4 and 10 in February after reviewing passenger levels.

10: Freshbrook – Swindon town centre – Kingsdown

We are making changes to our Service 10 to extend to Orbital Park, meaning that people living in Upper Stratton, Kingsdown and Penhill will now have a direct link to this retail venue. This service will also continue to Tadpole Garden Village to partially replace service 4 for those travelling between Tadpole Village or Blunsdon St Andrews to Swindon town centre and the STEAM/Design Outlet.

New stops include Cricklade Rd/Grafton Rd, Cricklade Rd/Groundwell West, Oakhurst Way/Voyager Drive, Oakhurst Way/Hartington Rd. All route 4 stops in Blundson St Andrews, Tadpole Garden Village, and Orbital Park will be served.

The extension opens up new East to West links to Orbital Park as well as continues to provide a service from these areas to Swindon town centre.

There will be no change to the 20-minute frequency on Mondays to Saturdays. Additionally, there is no change to the Sunday route and timetable.

4: Swindon town centre – Tadpole Village

Service 4 was previously run with financial support from developer funding, which has now come to an end.

Passenger numbers are incredibly low, meaning that without backing it is unable to cover its operating costs and is no longer sustainable. We have explored reducing the frequency in order to maintain some level of service however even after a reduction, the service would remain unviable.  Unfortunately, with risings costs outweighing revenue our only option is therefore to withdraw the service.

Removing a service is something we consider carefully before taking action and recognise the effects of withdrawing a service on the local community. We are really pleased that we’ve been able to retain the same frequency and links to and from Swindon town centre and STEAM/Designer Outlet for customers in Blunsdon St Andrews, Tadpole Garden Village and Orbital Park; areas that will now be covered by the extended route 10 (details above).
