About this ride
It’s almost a tradition that we put on a D Day Ride. This year we start in Haydon Wick and visit two airfields that played a huge part in the D Day operations back in June 1944 (79 years ago). A chance to indulge in a bit of Military History and ride your bike
We will be on country lanes, old railway tracks and the odd off road trail. You will need a bike that deal with gentle tracks, trails and possibly a bit of mud. So I would leave that bike you cadged off of Mark Cavendish at home
We will be stopping for coffee and cake at Performance Cycles in the Lakes
Don’t forget a full water bottle with your favourite thirst quencher. For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted-on then a spanner that fits the wheel nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or debit card for the refreshment stop. Some place’s only take card payments.
We especially welcome newbies!
