About this ride

This is a great route popular with commuters. Signposted in both directions and passes the birthplace of nature writer, novelist and local hero Richard Jeffries. Following the route of the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal it explores Swindon’s urban areas and the NCN R45.
This is one Swindon’s very popular “Rounds” approximately 7 miles of flat cycle tracks, some road crossings; once you’ve done it with us you’ll be able to do it again on your own
We go from Coate Water to GWH, then through Liden with a short diversion to the lake, Covingham, Green Bridge, then close by the County Ground before making our way back to finish at Coate where we can have refreshments.
Most of this route is traffic free a few hundred yards or so is on the residential road by Queens Drive
We may find a nice place to stop about half way so you can refresh yourself and have a chat
For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted on then a spanner that fits the nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory for adults but recommended. All children must wear a helmet. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along with credit or debit card for the kiosk at the end
We especially welcome newbies!
