About this ride

Starting from – Outside the Persimmon Sales Offices on Wilbury Close, Marlborough Rd, Swindon SN3 6AB Swindon (Just off Homington Avenue). Why not pick up a free cycle map, get your bike safety checked and security marked at the free cycle promotion event whilst you’re there?

The Dorcan Round is a great family-friendly traffic-free loop which can be cycled, run or walked. It is largely flat and follows traffic-free cycle paths with the occasional short section of quiet street. The route is all marked out in both directions via purple stickers on lampposts so you can follow it round later in your own time too. (https://www.swindontravelchoices.co.uk/route/dorcan-round/)

The route passes by the Richard Jefferies Museum and Coate Water before following Queens Drive towards the Magic Roundabout and Swindon Town Centre. We then cross over and head towards Greenbridge Retail Park via the route of the former Wilts and Berks Canal and ‘Eastern Flyer’ Cycle Path. From Greenbridge we’ll pass through the green spaces of Dorcan, past Liden Lagoon and back to our starting point by Great Western Hospital.
