About this ride
Autumn ride from Shrivenham on country lanes and gentle gravel track to the Ridgeway, where we’ll visit Waylands Smithy (Neolithic Burial Chamber) and White Horse Hill.
The ride is roughly split equally between a fairly level gravel track and quiet country lanes. There is a stiff climb of about half a mile up to the Ridgeway but it is on a very quiet lane that can be walked.
Planned stops at Wayland Smithy to walk around the neolithic tomb and another stop on White Horse Hill to admire the view and catch breath.
Don’t forget a full water bottle with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to eat at the planned stops. For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted on then a spanner that fits the nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along.
We never leave anyone behind
