About this walk
FREE guided walk from Coate Water to Chiseldon, return via Hodson Bottom — approx 6 miles/10 km.
Join a leisurely paced, guided, circular walk through some of the local countryside that inspired the writings of Richard Jefferies and Alfred Williams. This walk includes some field-walking and muddy or uneven ground. (Walkers can do a shorter linear version and leave the walk at Chiseldon, returning to Swindon via bus.)
• Grade — Leisurely/Moderate. Includes step-stile.
• Park at Coate Water or field overflow – charges apply. (There is no parking available within museum grounds.)
• Public toilets at car park and Chiseldon.
• Well behaved dogs, kept on short leads, are welcome on this walk.
• Wear suitable clothing for the weather and appropriate footwear.
• It would be advisable to carry some water.
• There is time for a short packed-lunch break along the route if desired. Bring your own food.
• Walks are undertaken entirely at the participant’s own risk.
