About the Highworth Walking Competition

In the summer of 2025, we want to find the best 8 walks in the Highworth area, as nominated by you.  Entrants could be in with a chance of winning a food hamper from Bloomfields Deli.  The winners will also see their walk in print in a new free walking magazine early next year.

Over the summer school holidays we are asking residents to get out and about to discover the local area and nominate their favourite walks into the competition.  There are several categories of walks to ensure there’s a wide range to enter.

The judging panel will be made up of local champions and Grahame Lee who heads up Step Out Swindon.  They will look closely at the entries to decide upon the winning walks.

How to enter

Once you have chosen your favourite walk, you can submit it for judging before the closing date of 5th September 2025.

  1. We will need you to map the walk – this can be as simple as drawing the route in coloured pen on a map and sending it in the post to us.  Alternatively you can use online mapping websites such as plotaroute.com (or whichever site you prefer) to plot the route and save a PDF.  You may even have a watch or device that records the route as you walk (such as Garmin) that you can save and send the file to us.
  2. Complete an entry form.  There is online entry form below, where you can upload the map as a digital file.  Alternatively you can complete the entry form below and indicate that you will be posting a hard copy map to us.  A third option is to download a Word copy of the entry form and send this via email (to swindontravelchoices@swindon.gov.uk) or print and send by post with your paper map.
  3.   We’ll let you know whether you have won after the judging.
