Explore nature and Swindon’s history with new family summer trails

This summer, families can discover more of Swindon as the Active Swindon Trails make a return on July 1st!

For the summer season (July, August and September) there will be three walking trails across the borough to get you out and about.

On Tuesday 1st July, Swindon Travel Choices will officially launch the three trails, which include:

  1. The Robin trail – a loop from the Moredon sporting hub
  2. The Wichelstowe Explorer trail – a treasure hunt to find items around East, Middle and West Wichel
  3. The Pig trail – along the Eastern Flyer from Greenbridge to Swindon Town Centre

There will be a Summer trails leaflet to pick up from Swindon’s core libraries (Central, West, North, Highworth and Park) and the Moredon sporting hub that shows the routes.

Residents can also download trail leaflets from the Swindon Travel Choices website.

The trails, which are all between one and three miles long, will take families to some great local arts, heritage, and historical sites, as well as places of natural beauty. There’s a limited edition animal themed badge available for the first 200 people to complete each challenge, while everyone who completes one of the trails, is eligible for an entry into the season’s prize draw.

Wherever possible, the routes have been designed to be accessible, with alternative suggestions provided if this is not the case. Details for getting to the start of each of the walks by public transport is also provided.

One lucky winner per season will receive £100 gift voucher in the grand prize draw, while five runners-up prizes for each trail will also be given out.

Residents can enter the prize draw online from the Swindon Travel Choices website, by scanning the QR code on the trail leaflets or by posting their entry form in the post box at the partner locations when collecting a badge.

The season will finish on 30th September, with the grand prize draw taking place on Friday 3rd October.

However, unlike last year, the trails challenge won’t end there as on 1st October we will launch 3 new trails for families to discover over the autumn period.
