Come along and explore the local Wichelstowe area with Keystone – specialists in ecology & habitats – on an evening guided walk.

Led by Swindon Travel Choices, we will start from the Keystone information stand at the Orchard off Scott Way, and head on a leisurely stroll out towards Mannington and onto the Old Town Railway Path.  We’ll exit onto the canal and then take Mill Lane and public footpaths to East Wichel, around the lakes and on the newly opened canal path back to Middle Wichel.  We’ll then take the boardwalk back to the Orchards.

The whole route is around 3 miles but anyone wanting to curtail the walk can do so at various points.

Is the route suitable for buggies / wheelchairs?

The route is accessible but not paved, with a few short stretches on grass.  It is fairly flat with just a few undulations.

Can I bring a dog?

Dogs are welcome on a lead.  You must obviously clean up after them.

Will it go ahead if the weather’s bad?

Yes, we hope to walk whatever the weather unless there is a weather warning from the Met Office.

What shall I wear?

Wear whatever you are comfortable walking in, making sure your footwear is appropriate for gravel, grass and potentially getting wet.
