What is Swindon Orienteering Challenge?
There are 36 orienteering points for you to find around Swindon. The points are stickers attached to lampposts or signposts on the paths across the borough.
You can use the maps to locate the orienteering points. When you find the orienteering point, all you need to do is write the letter(s) down on the grid (download below) in the box that corresponds to the location’s number. This is a way of showing that you have been to each location.
We have broken the Challenge down into six different areas of Swindon:
Priory Vale Pursuit
Pootle around Priory Vale and discover the hidden corners of Swindon, parks, landmarks and lovely local views. At each stop you’ll find a letter to note down as you go, so remember to collect them all for your final prize. Perfect for families — All on traffic free paths.
West Swindon Whizzaround
Zoom around West Swindon and explore the lovely landscape around Peatmoor Lagoon, Shaw Forest and other beautiful spots. A fun, family-friendly route for spotting wildlife, art and local views. Enjoy the adventure!
Middle Swindon Mission
Explore the heart of Swindon and uncover the character of its streets. From Taw Hill to Cricklade Road and beyond. An easy-going route to discover local corners, test your navigation and enjoy an urban adventure.
South Swindon Seeker
Head out and uncover the best of South Swindon. From Westcott Recreation Ground to Wichelstowe. A cheerful route full of local highlights. Perfect for getting out,
exploring and enjoying the local area.
Eastern Exploration
Explore East Swindon and soak up local charm. From peaceful parks to neighbourhood landmarks, with the famous Magic Roundabout – a must-see highlight. Keep your eyes peeled for hidden gems, and enjoy discovering your neighbourhood!
Stratton Twin Quest
Wander around Stratton and seek out the two stops at Green Road and Rettingham Way. A short stroll or cycle, perfect for a quick adventure.
